Nodal Power Secures $13M to Transform Landfills into Renewable Energy Plants
Nodal Power has successfully raised a $13 million seed round to accelerate its efforts in curbing methane emissions from landfills through the development and operation of landfill gas to energy power plants. The company's innovative technology is aimed at significantly reducing methane emissions, a potent greenhouse gas that has a much greater heat-trapping effect than carbon dioxide. By utilizing generators to combust methane gas, Nodal Power not only diminishes carbon emissions compared to conventional flaring or venting methods but also repurposes an otherwise wasted resource.
The funding has already been invested in constructing and
operating two power plants in the US, with plans for a third site in early
2024. These facilities generate renewable electricity from methane gas produced
by the decomposition of organic waste at landfills. Nodal Power's approach
holds the potential to make a substantial impact on local energy markets while
contributing to environmental sustainability.
