Unique Opening: Hangzhou Asian Games Begins
On the day of the Autumn Equinox, a traditional Chinese solar term, the 19th Asian Games commenced with a spectacular opening ceremony held at Hangzhou Olympic Sports Centre Stadium, also known as "Big Lotus." The ceremony, themed "Tides of Asia," symbolized China's integration with Asia and the world, likening it to a perpetual wave.
The performance showcased various interpretations of
"water," signifying the rising tide of progress. It combined
traditional Chinese elements such as "qin, chess, calligraphy, painting,
poetry, wine, and tea" with cutting-edge digital technology, creating a
captivating collision of cultures.
As athletes from 45 countries and regions entered the venue,
they were greeted with a unique Jiangnan flavor, accompanied by the beats of
drums. Raja Randhir Singh, Acting President of the Olympic Council of Asia
(OCA), expressed gratitude for the warm welcome and hospitality extended to
athletes.
Chinese President Xi Jinping officially declared the 19th
Asian Games open. The ceremony featured three chapters that incorporated
traditional elements and modern technology, emphasizing unity among Asian
nations.
This event also showcased the integration of digital
technology and green energy. Cutting-edge technology was used to project the Qiantang
River and Gongchen Bridge onto the stage, creating stunning visuals. The main
torch lighting was a blend of virtual and reality, symbolizing the intelligent
era's technological innovation.
A unique aspect of the ceremony was the participation of over
100 million "digital torchbearers," symbolizing the connection
between the digital and real worlds, fostering a sense of shared destiny in
Asia.
The use of green, zero-carbon methanol to light the main
torch highlighted environmental consciousness. The ceremony concluded with a
theme song and simulated osmanthus petals falling from the sky, creating a
picturesque autumn scene.
With a record 12,500 athletes from 45 countries and regions
participating, the Hangzhou Asian Games serves as a platform for cultural
exchange and showcases China's ability to host such events, emphasizing Asia's
growing prominence on the world stage. The opening ceremony successfully
