BayPort CU: #1 in VA for Service & Digital Branch Launch
For the fourth consecutive year, BayPort Credit Union has achieved recognition in all four award categories of the 2023 Social Responsibility and Member Service Awards, a prestigious accolade sponsored by the Virginia Credit Union League (VACUL) and the Credit Union National Association (CUNA). Their achievements include the launch of a comprehensive digital branch and enhanced virtual banking experience, the establishment of a $500,000 Accelerating Change Together grant, provision of free virtual and in-person adult financial education outreach, and the implementation of youth financial literacy programs through Student-Run Credit Unions.
BayPort secured first place in the Louise Herring Award
category for introducing a groundbreaking digital branch that delivers
one-on-one member service in a virtual format, accommodating members' banking
preferences. They also earned second place in the Dora Maxwell Award category
for the ACT Grant, a transformative $500,000 grant aimed at fostering education
and workforce development in Hampton Roads. Additionally, BayPort received
second place in the Desjardins Youth Financial Education
Award category for their "Bite of Reality" simulation app, which aids
middle and high school students in understanding real-world budgeting and
financial decision-making. In the Desjardins Adult Financial
Education Award category, BayPort earned third place for its strategic
initiatives promoting financial education among members and the community.
BayPort Credit Union's outstanding commitment to social
responsibility and member service positions them as a leading financial
institution in Virginia, with eligibility for national recognition, which CUNA
will announce later this year. Established in 1928, BayPort Credit Union now
manages $2.2 billion in assets and serves nearly 148,000 individuals and
businesses through 27 branch locations across the Virginia Peninsula and
Southside communities.
