Iridium Expands Global PNT with Satelles Acquisition.

 


Iridium Communications Inc. (NASDAQ: IRDM) just announced that they've agreed to acquire Satelles, Inc., a top provider of secure satellite-based time and location services that enhance and safeguard GPS and other GNSS systems. The service, called Satellite Time and Location (STL), is a secure solution that boosts the efficiency and reliability of timing systems for digital infrastructure like 5G base stations and data centers. This move aligns with Iridium's strategy of investing in cutting-edge technologies that outperform the competition. The market for assured Positioning Navigation and Timing (PNT) services is expected to grow to $3.5 billion by 2032, requiring smaller devices for integration. Time synchronization and location data are crucial for industries like finance, telecommunications, cyber security, and transportation. Iridium will focus on making STL more accessible for integration with various systems and markets, including aviation, maritime, and land mobile.
